I have had the honour of doing work for HDFC Bank at multiple points in my advertising career and for many years. The first was when the credit cards business was launched and what a successful run that business has had. The HDFC tagline ‘We Understand Your World’ was also created by the agency I was working for then. And during the last decade it’s been a relationship across many of HDFC Bank’s assets and liabilities offerings.

They have been consistently different from the others and haven’t really believed in the role of mass advertising campaigns. To see them so far ahead of their nearest competitors is surprising and also gives me great joy.

As usual there can be a lot of learning from a winning brand from one category for other categories.
